Pre-Planning
- Sorry we are not able to offer plans at the moment.
We are often asked if funeral plans are worth it? Well its hard to say. If you have the spare funds then it does give you the opportunity to lock in some of the costs at todays prices. However many plans will only offer a contribution towards "third party fees" such as cremation, minister and church costs...etc. Which you will often find is not enough to cover such costs so its entirely possible your loved ones will be asked to find further funds when said plans are needed.
Many of these plans have inflated prices to cover future increases in prices - Example's shown below:
Basic Direct Cremation Prices for unattended funerals plans (source - Google - March 2026)
Golden Charter £1885.00
Co-op £1700.00 (prices from)
Jennings (Dignity) £1799.00 (prices from)
Pure Cremation £1855.00 (Prices from)
Distinct Cremations £1799.00 (prices from)
Whereas if you arranged the funeral at the time when needed, its often a lot less expensive. For example if you asked that we take your loved one into our care, we could offer that service for £1395.00. All funeral directors are required to offer this direct cremation service and costs can vary from company to company and area to area.
So are funeral plans worth it? I'm afraid there is no definitive answer.
